For the third time, we will be celebrating Mothers Day in the studio with a special event weekend. Get your mom, sister, grandmother, daughters, sons and children together to get in front of the camera with some of the people that mean the most to you. RED DEER PHOTOGRAPHER . STUDIO SESSION

Today I have another great mixed studio session to share with you! A combination grad and family session that was held entirely in the studio creating clean, classic, timeless portraits.

For those new here, the studio is located in the central Alberta town of Sylvan Lake, just a short drive from Red Deer. I love that I am able to serve my clients with these timeless studio sessions that put the focus on them!

RED DEER FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY . IN STUDIO

The H family visited the photography studio in Sylvan Lake in April of 2018.

We managed to create two different looks and clothing changes for a great variety of images to really tell the story of their family at this stage of celebrating a special anniversary.

There is nothing like the timeless simplicity of a studio portrait session.

KIM . 2018 GRADUATION

It’s only been a year and a half since I blogged last. NBD, right?! To say I have some catching up to do would be an understatement. Or should I just start over? Haha

It kinda seems fitting that I dust off the old blog again with Kim’s session. We photographed the outdoor images in the fall of 2017 at MacKenzie Trails in Red Deer, Alberta, however the dress portion of her photos were taken in the new studio in Sylvan Lake….and she was my first client there!

Here’s to more blogging and sharing. I really do believe it gives you, the client, a better idea of what a session with me looks like from start to finish. Something that is just not the same with one photo shared on IG or Facebook.

Ammonite Falls Hike . Vancouver Island

As some of you know, we packed up from Red Deer in the middle of March and headed out to Vancouver Island for a month long stay.  The majority of our time was spent with the boys doing their off season golf training, however, we were able to fit in a little bit of downtime here and there with visiting family and taking in a few hikes.  Despite the uncooperative weather ;).

Ammonite Falls, just outside of Nanaimo, was one of our afternoon trips.  As I know some of you visit Vancouver Island as a holiday spot, I thought I would share a little more information about the trail and falls in case you want to add it to your travel plans.

* Location: The trail is just 15 minutes west of Nanaimo. Paved roads and easy to find using google maps.
* Parking: There is a small lot just past the trail entrance. Google maps takes you to the road where the trail starts, however just drive past this and you will see the parking lot ahead.
* Time: This is a in and out trail to the falls. We had our two dogs and went at an average pace and it took about 1.5 hours
* Difficulty: The trail is really well groomed and considered easy.  Getting down to the bottom of the falls is more difficult and needs to be navigated using the rope system available on the trail. Also, the bottom of the viewing area is rather small and enough area for a few people at a time.
* Geocaching: We didn't manage to actually find any on our hike (this seems to be a recurring problem for us, haha), but there were quite a few noted on our GPS.

If you have any questions at all about the hike, don't hesitate to send me an email!

BREANNA | RED DEER PHOTOGRAPHER | GRAD 2016

Today seems like a good day to feature another 2016 Grad, right?  I managed to post five of last years sessions, but have about 7 more to share. Time to get refocused before 2017 is over ;).

I loved Breanna's session from start to finish.  We hadn't met prior to her and her mom visiting the studio for the first time, which was during their pre-session consultation, and I knew right away she was my kind of girl. Especially after she showed me her inspriation photos for her session and I loved the style!

Again, thank you Breanna (and mom!) for choosing me to photograph you for your graduation. I hope you treasure these images for years to come!
