A little look back at the 2021 grad team editorial shoot!

This family session, held in the studio here in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, just outside of Red Deer, Alberta was photographed at the end of October, 2020. Again, I can't stress enough how great it is to schedule a family session and not have to worry about the weather! Especially with families that have grown kids, and their own independent schedules, it can be a big challenge to reschedule.

This is the amazing family of one of my best friends since kindergarten! How incredible is that?!?! I am so grateful to have had this friendship over the years and watch her family grow.

As you can see from the session, they brought a couple of different clothing changes, which adds more variety to the session in the studio. And I love how we got a few shots of them wearing the jerseys of their favourite team, the Edmonton Oilers.

Horses at a family session?!? Yes please!

Back in July of 2020, I photographed this session just west of Edmonton, Alberta, on their family farm. What originally started as a studio mom and daughter session, but due to Covid we adjusted with the times and changed it up to an outdoor location on their farm.

I can't finish off this blog post without mentioning that I am related to these amazing people. Seeing their passion for family and their animals over the years, it was so great to be able to capture these images for them!

RED DEER FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER . STUDIO SESSION

This photography session, held in my studio here in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, just outside of Red Deer, Alberta took place in October of 2020.

This family came to me wanting a more modern take on family photos, with an added pop of colour. I drew a little inspiration from the two red chairs I had on hand and pulled together a few unique, fun poses that fit the style. It's always my goal to hear what clients are hoping to see in their final portraits and work to achieve that for them!

There are so many great things about in studio sessions. They aren't weather dependent and not at the mercy of dealing with being rescheduled if the weather doesn't co-operate. They offer a clean, modern, unique style to your session. Without the distraction of the landscape the focus is on family connections. And you have the ability to style with one or two wardrobe changes if you are interested (a little more difficult for families if you are on location!).
